Robert Hewitt, who began drawing when he was three, was trained in fine art at Birmingham-Southern College and the University of Alabama. He was a graphic designer in Atlanta for several years, and then formed a public relations firm with his wife, a writer, specializing in strategic communications campaigns for Fortune 50 corporations.
Deciding he wanted to return to fine art, he moved full time to a high mountain valley in northwestern North Carolina, where he lives in a log house in a cove overlooking two valleys and several distant mountain ranges with his wife and four cats. There, he has a workmanlike studio with a view of varied forms of passing wild life and Snake Mountain, from which he draws ongoing inspiration. He enjoys painting in a variety of styles and formats. Having begun with pen-and-ink and oil, he has begun to focus primarily on watercolors. His primary goal is to create art that he enjoys and also art that “speaks” to others.
For several years, he marketed his art mainly at shows, but is in the process of making the transition to gallery representation. He has been selling his ACEOs on eBay for a year. A lifelong supporter of humane and animal-rights causes, he is delighted to have been invited to join A4C and welcomes the opportunity to use his art to benefit animals.
